Your Questions Answered - Iris Edge

Questions about Iris Edge™ from our recent webinar take center stage in this blog post. Experts provided in-depth answers covering the device’s depth of field, pan-tilt limits, data delivery, and remarkable frequency measurement range. We’ll explore Iris Edge’s capabilities and benefits for reliability and maintenance programs, helping you maximize Motion Amplification®.

Question 1: What is an Iris Edge™ “Trigger”?

Answer: An Iris Edge Trigger is a ‘scene’, or image, that the Iris Edge has been configured to capture.  Each Trigger contains a single Virtual Sensor (ROI) from which vibration data is calculated.  The Iris Edge is designed to be configured with multiple Triggers and they are evaluated on a user-defined Cycle time.  Triggers should be unique to capture all critical aspects within the scene; they are unique in terms of parameters such as image resolution, frame rate, light level, threshold level, and even the image itself when mounted to the Pan/Tilt accessory.

Question 2: What is the maximum number of Triggers I can add to an Iris Edge™ Device?

Answer: There is no predefined limit.  However, there is a limitation as to how often a Trigger will be processed, as the Iris Edge is designed to process all triggers on a user-defined cycle.  As more triggers are added, the longer this cycle time becomes.

Additionally, recording duration of each trigger is a function of image resolution; the smaller the image within each trigger, the longer the duration per trigger.

Question 3: What are the max range, depth of field, and pan tilt limits?

Answer:

  • Pan/Tilt:  +/- 90 pan, +/- 40 tilt
  • Approximate min/max range for auto-focus:  0.75 ft / infinity

Question 4: What kind of information can I expect the Iris Edge™ camera to provide?

Answer:

  • Recording (for analysis in Motion Amplification)
  • MP4
  • Vibration Data: Waveform, Spectrum, WF Pk-Pk, Spectrum Digital Overall, (Spectral) Parameter Band(s)
  • When threshold exceeded, email Waveform, Spectrum and MP4. MP4 can be automatically HDR-filtered.

Question 5: What is the maximum frequency (Fmax) you can measure with the Iris Edge camera?

Answer: 65Hz at [1936×1464], low sensitivity; up to 650Hz at reduced image size/lower sensitivity
